What we did

In June, I spent two weeks in Ghana, West Africa. I went with a group of 22 from Community Bible Church in High Point, NC and worked with Pioneers-Africa, a local Ghanaian missions organization.

We began at Pioneers' headquarters in the capital, Accra, a city of 2.4 million people. Then, we traveled the country and stayed in five different places -- meeting and helping the various missionaries and their families. At any given time we had about four Pioneers staff with us; Godwin accompanied us the whole time, and Seth, Ernest, Abigail and Teresa were there most of the time.

The missionaries begged for us to tell their story upon our return to the U.S., which is why I've set up this blog. It was by far the most spectacular two weeks of my life, and hopefully you'll see why.

To get an idea

A typical family's house in a typical Ghanaian village.

He would wear a shirt if he had one.

His stomach sticks out because it is full of worms.

The protrusion of his belly button, called an umbilical hernia and seen in many of these children, will correct itself later in life and is not a danger.
